One reason why Snape considers organising ability as requirement for
a proper teacher.
First, a student going to the bathroom wouldn't see the teacher
teaching in two class-rooms, because
a) the classrooms are not that close to each other
b) the classroom doors are *closed*.
But it does explain why there are several dungeons for potions...
However, we don't know how many double classes with Slytherins (or
Ravenclaw&Hufflepuff) there is in a week for each year. As it's
boarding school -- well, it's four double classes or eight single
classes for each day (except weekends?)
Supposedly first years have double potion's 3-times a week. M-W-F -
all in morning. 2nd years have the afternoons on the same days. 3rd
and up there's less(because the selections fill the students day) --
Tuesdays and Thursdays... say 3rd on Tuesday morning and 4th on
afternoon. 5th year on Thursday morning and 6th on the afternoon.
7th years, being 17 and thus of age, study themselves for the NEWTs...
Schedule comes even *easier* on teachers if 5th and 6th years do the
same... (After all, subjects taught since 1st year are ones that
mainly can be learned from books - which is why Hermione's so good at
them).
After all, we don't know much of studying pactise after 4th year, do
we? Only that 5th years take OWLs and 7th years take NEWTs... and
Fred&George seemed to find the time to do their business (without
anyone complaining they weren't in class-- maybe 5th-7th years don't
go (or at least, not very often with OWLs and NEWTs to work on) as
well as getting mediocre amount of OWLs (Of course, not good enough
for Molly after Bill, Charlie and Percy got full marks...).
