What happens to dead wizards' wands?

They might bury the wand with them (as has been an ancient custom 
that person's tools be buried along)...

Or maybe your wand just turns into a magic-free stick when you die... 
or what ever.

Another matter is that.. Lily wasn't exactly using a *wand* against 
Voldemort. She used her own body to protect Harry.

What if... Lily was a true Seer who foresaw the events to come (in a 
dream right after Pettifrew became the Traitor), she wrote these 
things, as well as a will and letters to Harry, put them and her wand 
into a Seven-Lock-trunk... a trunk that is in Dursley's attic, 
waiting for Harry to open it...

Still leaves the question about James' wand, though. *He* had it out 
when he was fighting to keep Voldemort away. Did the traitor collect 
James' wand, thus easily leaving his own behind to frame his death?

Cedric's wand? There's no mention of it after Cedric died... Or was 
Cedric's wand the stick PP crushed between his fingers (with 
the 'magichand' Voldemort gave him?)
