Exactly, what if the plot was reversed a bit? Then maybe what
Dumbledore has to tell Harry will be in the beginning or middle of
the book instead of perhaps the last line of book 5.

Oh it's not JKR's style to just abruptly cut a book like that. I think it's 
much more likely that just after Dumbledore says that line something abrupt 
and unexpected happens and D and H have to go off and fight the dark forces 
in some manner. Thus preventing Harry from finding out. This could be even 
more dramatic if Dumbledore dies in this fight, but I don't think Dumbledore 
will die till book 7.

But to tell the truth, I think the scene will actually get to finish with 
Dumbledore telling Harry "everything". IN the 37th chapter of course, but 
still we find out why Voldemort wanted Harry dead.
