hi
this "evil" Draco thread is really interesting. but trying not to repeat anything already said (emphasis on the trying). i have a comment to make. Cindy said that because Draco has intended to hurt people, like in the broomstick incident, he is evil. plain and simple. ok then, is Sirius Black evil? cause he tricked Snape when they were kids into being up close with Lupin while in wolf form. and that had certainly malicious intent and could have caused death or severe injuries. Sirius didnt even hesitate at the end. the one that went to get help was James. so is Sirius evil too? or did he outgrow the evilness?
my point being that they are kids. kids can do very stupid things for all the wrong reasons, but that's why the concept of maturity exists. i dont believe that Draco is evil. he is an impulsive, immature, proud, snobby kid with a desperate need to prove himself and raised with a lot of prejudices, but thats it! you cant possibly condemn him for his actions till now. if so you would have to condemn the whole illustrious Gryffindor old gang who were certainly bullies... popular kids full of themselves who also made impulsive and careless things to whom they considered their enemies. and they eventually turned into mature adults with no evil agenda (as far as we know, of course *g*).
