Now me:

<dramatically holding back tears> :-p

Please don't let Hagrid die. Please, please, please,
pleasepleaseplease. I hope and pray and hope and pray and hope and
pray some more that Hagrid will live through all seven books. <hopes
and prays some more>

But seriously...I agree with Snuffles that Hagrid has a duty to
Harry. And if Hagrid *does* die sometime in the series (not
necessarily in book 5) I really, really, *really* want it to be a
heroic death. Hagrid, the half-giant who had potential to be a fully
qualified wizard but was framed by Tom Riddle so had to settle for
being the grounds keeper of Hogwarts and is shunned and then shot
down by Madame Maxime but through all his hardships still has a good
heart....*dies a heroic death.* I *love* how that sounds. Please,
if he has to die, please let his death be heroic, and make all those
people (especially Madame Maxime) realize that Hagrid was awesome.

On a different note: You know how Hagrid has that obsession with
animals/creatures that are known to be dangerous? How he loves them
to death and all that? Has anyone else thought that he sort of looks
at them as himself? Like they're "not dangerous, they're
misunderstood" kind of thing. Just like he's not dangerous, he's
just misunderstood. Take his relationship with the giant spider
Aragog; it's almost like the relationship he has with Dumbledore,
only Aragog is *Hagrid* and Hagrid is *Dumbledore*. (does that make
sense?) If you look at the two of them, it's like...I can't think of
the right word right now, but look:

Dumbledore associates with/takes care of people that the rest of the
world think are dangerous and wouldn't even *think* of associating
with: a werewolf, a half-giant, an former death-eater, and (hardly
anyone in the WW knows but if they found out there would be havoc) a
known convict, etc.

Now look at Hagrid, who loves all those creatures like Fluffy,
Buckbeak, Norbert and Aragog. The rest of the world think those are
dangerous too, and wouldn't go near them. It's like...Hagrid is the
Dumbledore of magical outcasted animals! :-p

I wonder if the animals we've seen Hagrid take care of have any
parallels with the people Dumbledore takes care of
.
Hagrid is Aragog? (they're both
giant? And IIRC Aragog speaks highly
of Hagrid in COS and all that)
Snape is Buckbeak? (Proud, easily offended and you can't get near it
unless it lets you)
Sirius Black is Fluffy? (Dogs
Fluffy guarding the stone/Sirius
guarding Harry?)
That leaves Lupin is Norbert the Dragon? (Maybe the Potion he takes
has dragon blood in it or something
)

All that, of course, is from my crazy mind, and I just thought of
them on the spot, so it's probably nothing.

Anyway, back to the subject of Hagrid dying, *cringe* I think he
should die a hero. I don't want him to come back as a ghost, because
I want him to finally be at peace when he dies even if he has to die
a violent death *cringe*, I don't want him to die by accident, I
don't want him to die like Cedric ("kill the spare" *cringe*), I
don't want his mother to kill him, simply because I don't want to
read about *any* mother killing their own child. I *really* don't
want his mother to kill him....Unless...*eyes widen as a sudden
thought enters her mind* unless...she kills him before she knew he
was her son. Then whoever Hagrid was with (Madam Maxime or
whatever) screams "HAGRID!!" and Fridwulfa hears it...and
remembers, "oh, my gosh, my son's name was Hagrid!" Then after closer
inspection of Hagrid, she sees that it WAS her son that she
killed....and she is so very sorry, realizes her huge mistake and
therefore goes and helps Dumbledore and the crowd. So Hagrid dies,
but he dies a hero and the giants go and help Dumbledore.

But I still don't want him to die by his mom. *types faster as
another thought pops into her mind* Because really...IIRC I read
somewhere in the Lexicon that Giants were fighting/warring amongst
*themselves* until Voldemort got them to fight on his side. The fear
everyone has of giants stems from fear and prejudice to begin with,
and heightened when they fought on Voldemort's side
 Also, in GOF
Chapter 36 Dumbledore tells Fudge to "extend them the hand of
friendship, now, before it is too late." and goes on to say that the
reason the giants sided with Voldemort was because Voldy promised
them their rights and freedom...So....it seems like...the giants are
yet another misunderstood people
What they wanted was simple: rights
and freedom. Voldy promised them that, so they sided with
him....they obviously showed some loyalty to him by doing what he
told them to
and Hagrid *must* have inherited some of his mother's
traits...and he's so very loyal to Dumbledore....can that be
connected somehow? *gasps* maybe Hagrid uses that to convince his
mother and/or the other giants! That since Dumbledore took care of
*him*, Dumbledore would take care of *them* or something like that...

These giants....it seems to me that they pretty much leave you alone
if you leave them alone. The only time (that I know of) that they
showed violence to humans was after Voldy told them that he would
give them their rights and freedoms...

I'm gonna stop there for now, before this becomes a novel. I didn't
expect my reply to be this long *laughs* I really hope people can
understand this. =)
