Lily and Voldemort - a very bizarre theory

I have a lot of time on my hands today and thought I'd share a very bizarre theory of mine. 
Maybe Lily is the heir of Gryffindor and maybe the fact that she has green eyes has something to do with a prophecy. Harry has the same green eyes and the fact that he has his mother's eyes is often mentioned in the books.
Maybe both of her parents were squibs, or descendents of squibs, which would explain their joy at finding they had a witch in the family. 
Maybe the reason Voldemort killed James and wanted to kill Harry, but was willing to bypass killing Lily is because he wanted the heir of Gryffindor for his own (?) Just a very bizarre theory.
