Well, the current transfiguration teacher is an animagus -- so that's
one for Sirius. Considering that Sirius & his friends learned animagi
all by themselves from books, I'd say he's good at transfiguration
(as was James). His animagi itself shows transfiguration ability...
Then, there's some teachers saying something about him and James
being the brightest students (as well as very close - or was it
Dumbledore.)... which would mean that they were good at many if not
all subjects. (Neither ever tried to do extra with Time-Turner like
Hermione, though. They learned animagi instead).
And as far as the Divination Course's lessons of life ('you can only
learn so much from books' or 'we will all die') Hermione's not so
good at, and while Trelawney's usual predictions aren't really gained
from a crystal ball or tea leaves, they become true. And if the
predicted thing happens later - does it truly matter *where* the
prediction came out from? In Divination, I believe, they will learn
to 'read signs', to see the truth - to see the world as it is, not
envisioned trough a filter as we usually do (such as ignoring the
entrance to the Leaking Cauldron)... Of course, Hermione doesn't
understand the subtle learning, the subconcious and it wasn't only in
Divination, but also with her boggart.
Sirius could have been in this course and good at it. At least, he
can read the truth from Rita Skeeter's articles... that takes some
skill. Divination course where he learned to accept truth - however
demeaning... How ever hurtful... I think he was good at Divination
too - (warning Harry about Krum who, later on, did cruciate Cedric -
though he was under Imperius. Did Sirius doubt Krum or that someone
would Imperio Krum to use an unforgivable?). He didn't figure out all
of it (but if he'd seen or been told of Barty Crouch on the map, he
probably would have...)
But Sirius as Professor - DADA, transfiguration, possibly charms. Not
Potions, and I don't really see him _teaching_ divination. Instead he
could help Harry&Ron(Neville&others?) with it... a supportive
teacher, perhaps? or Head-of-House helping students out of interest?
I'm not sure where McGonagall would be if Sirius gains her job, but
things being as they are, Voldemort might kill her (and she's the
first one to die of all who's death Trelawney has predicted...)
