When in doubt, try reality. Just out of curiousity I typed 'Blaise'
into Google.com. I didn't check every reference, but here are a few I
did check.
Blaise Pascal - 1623-1662. French philosopher and mathematician.
Blaise Pascal was the third of Etienne Pascal's children and his only son.
Blaise Siwula - Jazz Alto Sax player - male
Blaise Gaston - contemporary furniture designer - male
Blaise Schemacher - Scotish stained glass designer - male
Blaise Fischer - French? race car driver - male
There is also Saint-Blaise, and although it is a guy, I don't know if
Blaise is his first name or last.
The only females I could find, has Blaise as a last name.
If you are looking for the root construct of the name, It would appear
that you should look for them in the French language.
Just a thought.
