I've been wondering about this for a while, because once
before I waited for a long time for book 5 in a series (over
10 years) and it *did* turn out to be vastly disappointing.
The difference is, that in this other series book 1 was my
favorite and each successive one has been less and less
interesting (in my view) with no.5 having so much rehashing
in it, that I haven't ever completely finished it.
With HP, the books have been getting *better*, not worse,
with each new installment, though PoA is so far my
favorite.
PS made me wonder a bit as to what everyone saw in this
series. For me it was fun and all that, but nothing *way*
outstanding.
By now I'm a fan, but sometimes I wonder if we don't expect
a bit *too* much from JKR.
After all the discussion over the last few years, people
must have at least come close to several things that are
going to happen to the characters in the future storyline.
The long wait has built up such expectations, that I'm going
to be surprised if there aren't some people who think the
way JKR takes the story is lame, compared to some of the
theories out there.
And shipwise, there might be disappointments, no matter
where JKR takes it.
I tend to be a pessimist, expecting the worst, so I can
never be unhappily surprised, but I don't always succeed ;)
But yes, I do worry about the "dud" possibility.
