I don't know where I stand on the issue of whether Draco was healed
that very day, but Heidi makes an excellent point. Even though Madame
Pomfrey is a fantastic nurse, not everything she cures is cured right
away. After all, it did take Harry all night, not a few hours, to
grow his bones back. Hermione, too, had to actually miss a number of
days in class because her healing process took so long.

I tend to lean towards Draco being a big faker right away who panicked
as much from the idea of being injured as the the injury itself, but
really, we can't prove the extent of his injuries. There was a
noticeable amount of blood, and Draco's face was clearly lacking his
usual sneer. He was probably quite sore later that day, but a few
weeks later... then he was milking his injury for everything he could
get from it.
