The kitchen in the Safe House was getting rather crowded and
Sneaky the House Elf was hard at work keeping the pop tarts
coming. But besides Cindy, two Elkinses, Melody, and Coney the
killer rabbit, there was someone, or something, else, as yet
unnoticed.
> "No, really," insisted Cindy. "Crouch Jr. kills his father. Then
> he tells us he carried Crouch Sr.'s body into the forest
> and 'covered it with the Invisibility Cloak.' So why wouldn't Mrs.
> Longbottom be smart enough to use that same technique?
>
> "In fact, if you really want to have some fun, you can imagine
what might have happened when law enforcement arrived at the
Longbottoms' house and found them insane. The Pensieve
Four wouldn't have discovered Neville because he was stunned
and lying under an invisibility cloak. But that means no one else
could see Neville, either, so the authorities wouldn't be able to
find him and revive him. Neville ought to *still* be lying there in
his parents'house, right? But what would happen if *Moody*
were one of the first aurors on the scene! Moody can see
through invisibility cloaks! He would have seen Neville, and that
could be how Neville was discovered and rescued! Pretty cool,
huh?"<<<<
A figure in cloak and dark glasses stepped from the shadows of
the Safe House kitchen. No one had seen her come in.
"Miss Pippin!" Sneaky jumped up.
Melody dived into her robes and produced a bulb of garlic, which
she waved around menacingly. "How DARE you!" she shouted.
"You can't come in here without an invitation!"
"Oh, but I have an invitation," said Pippin. " Pip said I could come
by any time. I am a conspiracy theorist and a Christie fan, you
know. I just don't see any point in giving Snape another horrible
secret when he's got two already. So you can put that away.
Besides, you really think I'm going to be scared off by a
vegetable?"
"It was worth a try," said Melody. "Care for a pop tart?"
"No thanks," said Pippin. "I never eat...tarts. Say, what are all
these Elkinses doing here?"
"They is discussing Neville theories, Miss Pippin," said Sneaky.
"Miss Cindy was just saying that Neville could have been hiding
under an invisibility cloak when his parents were attacked. But
Auror Moody could have seen him."
"Interesting," says Pippin, "but I doubt it. I thought we'd decided
that Moody lost his eye battling the Lestranges when he captured
the Pensieve Four. If he didn't have a magical eye yet, he
couldn't have used it to see through Invisibility Cloaks at the time
of the attack."
"Darn!" said Cindy, "I think you're right. But help me decide which
of these Elkinses is the real one."
"No idea," said Pippin, "Anyway, how do I know you're the real
Cindy? You've got a wand. Cindy doesn't have a wand. She has a
paddle. A big paddle. Right?"
