I'm not Dicentra, but I've always read the text mostly this
way (I don't completely rule out a tinge of jealousy <g>. It
would be almost inhuman!) and don't feel tricked by JKR in
the least.

The point?

Maybe JKR wanted to shake up things a bit (I don't know how
many books and shows have had this done in 4rth
season/book4, but it's been many), but didn't want anyone to
really be the one totally "at fault" and "guilty".

This way we have conflict, but it's more a big
misunderstanding that can be overcome.

This interpretation of the "Rift" *has* come up plenty of
times (not necessarily in this forum), but usually gets
drowned out by the "mean and jealous!Ron" cries fairly
quickly ;)
