Well, it's really Harry who's being led by the hand to jealous!Ron. 
He's led there by Hermione, so the reader is being shown that 
Hermione doesn't understand Ron as well as she thinks she 
does, and that Harry's utter reliance on Hermione's information 
isn't altogether a good thing. 

It lays the groundwork for  future misinterpretations of Ron by 
Hermione, and also for Harry to learn that sometimes 
Hermione's help does more harm than good. It might even lead 
him to reject her help at some point...and how would *she* react 
to that?

It also might set up a situation where Harry falsely believes Ron 
is jealous, when his behavior is actually motivated by something 
else...Imperius!Ron, perhaps?
