One thing that bothers me that I cannot find anyone talking about

You've come to the right place.  We talk about this one every 6 weeks 
or so.  ;-)

Actually, it was Hagrid in Diagon Alley in the first book (it's only 
in the movie that it's Ron).  Good question.  My guess is that it's 
hyperbole on Hagrid's part.  I mean, honestly.  Out of *all* the 
witches and wizards that have gone bad, not a single one was in 
Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw?  Seems a bit hard to believe.

Another theory is that Sirius *was* in Slytherin--an intriguing 
notion that is not explicitly contradicted by the books.
