Oh, I *really* hate to do this. I don't want to discuss this, but I feel
should at least be addressed. Besides, I don't know if this *can* be
discussed!

Just a preface, JKR has numerously stated that these books are becoming
darker. We know that these books are for adults, but marketed towards kids.

Pippin said:
(2) Spirited Ginny:

"Leave him alone, he didn't want all that!" said Ginny. It was the
first time she had spoken in front of Harry. She was glaring at
Malfoy. CoS ch. 4

"So I made Ginny write her own farewell on the wall and come
down here to wait. She struggled and cried and became *very*
boring. But there wasn't much life left in her..." CoS ch17

Ginny challenged an older boy to his face and could still put up a
fight after months of being possessed by Riddle. What would
you call it?

Me:
I agree with your first quote about Ginny being spirited, but not the second
one.

We all know that Voldemort is all about power, he wants it all. If you look
at "She struggled and cried and became *very* boring" again, it does imply
that Riddle abused Ginny in someway, one way could be some sort of rape. It
is very disturbing what Riddle told Harry, & no child who read this book
would pick that up. This scenario was brought up by someone else on one of
the HP boards, either FAP or Kindred Spirits. Please forgive me, I do not
remember who mentioned this, but I do not have claim to this idea.

We know that there are numerous amounts of clues in CoS to the later books,
I believe this to be one. There is a reason Ginny was chosen by Lucius to
be the bearer of that diary. It wasn't only because the Weasley's are his
enemy, but he wants to bring Voldemort back. However, the question is why
did he choose Ginny, what are the effects of Riddle having control over
Ginny later in the books? I believe that this sets up an Evil!Ginny in
future books.

As for anymore in depth thinking, please forgive me for the lack of it.
There has got to be a reason why Ginny hasn't been brought into the Trio
more. I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before, if so, please accept
my apologies. If not, help me out here.

Sara
