Is Harry really in trouble?

Now me:

Wands with the same wand cores will not work against each other.
However, so far, we haven't heard of wizards with the same blood not
being able to fight each each other effectively (I personally think
they can, since we have yet to hear of a Romulus Lupin :). So,
unless this is a trick JKR has up her sleeve for OoP or beyond,
presumably if either Harry or Voldemort (or both) obtain a different
wand, they'll be able to fight each other. My bet's on Voldemort
getting a different wand, since I'm a fan of the "Harry as Heir of
Gryffindor" theory, and I also think that Fawkes was once
Gryffindor's phoenix, so I think the Heir of Gryffindor should retain
the wand with Gryffindor's phoenix feather in it (don't you?).

Todd again:

> Doesn't Voldemort in essence owe Harry a life debt?

Me again:

Harry's blood didn't save Voldemort's life, it just allowed Voldemort
to return to his body. Voldemort survived for 12 years as a spirit
and for another year as a slimy something that you'd find if you
turned over a rock. So IMO Voldemort doesn't owe Harry a life debt.

Todd again:

> after Hogwarts, and she said something like "What makes you think
> he lives?" Wouldn't it make sense that Harry would have to
> sacrifice his life to make Voldemort vulnerable?

Me again:

She did say that, but I read it as her expression of frustration that
the questioner was so convinced that she wouldn't kill off Harry. I
think she wants us to wonder whether Harry will survive in the end -
after all, if we know he's going to live, it takes a lot of the
suspense out of the story!

There is a contingent of HPfGU-ers that think that Harry will
sacrifice himself in the end (as a Christ parallel, or as the only
way to do away with Voldemort, or IMO so that JKR doesn't get hounded
for more Harry books after Book 7 :).

Todd again:

Me again:

All thought are welcome here, and you'd be surprised at how this
group can get your creative juices flowing :)
