Harry's Purpose

Harry's purpose, so far is to 1) make sure Voldemort doesn't kill 
him for reasons unknown and 2) trying to stop Voldemort from taking 
over the Wizarding World.  

What if Voldemort is trying to kill Harry not because Harry is 
destined for his downfall, but someone else?  Could Harry be 
destined to protect someone else who could beat Voldemort?  I have 
no canon evidence and I haven't analyzed which character could Harry 
possibly be protecting. Could Harry be someone else's Aragorn?

Farfetched idea, but what do you guys think?
