So.. there's pretty much a fixation on death for each character now? Name a
character, and a group is obsessed with the idea that they'll die? Look, JKR
wrote this series for children, as good as it might be for adults too. You
really think she's going to subject kids aged 7 to 12 to the very possible
fact that Harry will die? I rememebr sitting in on some 12 year olds being
read CoS. When Harry was near-death, the poor kids fairly gasped and
screamed.. what if he DOES die?**

Let me take a moment to direct you to the Universal Appeal of HP fantastic posts compilation, available at http://www.hpfgu.org.uk/FAQ for jkr's quotes about the books being written for herself, not for kids.

And possibly the quotes where she says that GoF is not appropriate for the average kid under 8 in the first place.

But given that, the kids who *were* 8 when PS was released will be 14 when OoTP comes out. And likely pushing 18 when book 7 is released.

Yes, the publishers have pushed them as kids' books, but given that she's said that she wants readers to truly understand just how evil it is to take a human life, I would be shocked if she didn't kill off at least one semi-main character.
