The only modification that you'd need to make is that the news about
Voldemort's fall was in the public domain by the morning. Vernon Dursley
sees crowds of wizards out in public celebrating _on his way to work_ that
day.

Now my impression of the wizard radio (albeit that we've only had a very
brief snippet) is that it appears to be a very Reithian sounding institution
and wouldn't broadcast rumour (in the way that the Daily Prophet might, for
example). So the information must have been ok'd at a high level (possibly
by the Ministry) for them to broadcast it.

The hours between Voldemort's downfall and the news being released must have
been _very_ interesting for the Death Eaters...
