Definitely our first language affects greatly the way we pronounce
the words and names, even in English.
Regarding Animagus, i have always said ani-mah-gus, as said before by
someone else, mah as in man, gus as in goose :)
I was very surprised with many of the pronunciations in the
scholastic guide, how many i said wrong! Hermione was difficult
enough, it took me ages (i was pronouncing it like Viktor Krum more
or less until i was corrected by Hermione herself in Goblet of Fire).
Other words i pronounce differently:
Rubeus - i put the emphasis in the first syllable
Pensieve - same as above
Alastor - either A-lastor or alas-TOR, but not in the middle :)
Knuts - as in nuts
Firenze - as in italian
Draco - dra as in dragon
etc...
Interesting... i can't wait to hear the audiobooks or see the next
movies to hear how they say these words and others...
