Regarding the ka-noots / newts / nuts discussion, I'd pronounced it
ka-noots/ka-newts from the first, before I'd heard the pronunciations
on the Scholastic site way back when, but interestingly, I was also
saying Nee-zul, rather than Ka-neez-ul. Now however, I say Ka-nee-
zul. Actually, it's a voiced 'k' more than 'ka'(k'newts, K'nee-zul),
but y'all get my drift.

Yes, ani-mah-gus and ani-mah-g-eye, though I've gotten accustomed to
the '-jus' and '-j-eye' pronunciations now.

Heh, I had never heard the name pronounced before, so I was
saying 'Hermy-own'. <g>

For me, used to say and still do:

RU-bee-us
PEN-siv
AL-ih-stir
Dray-co

Can't recall if I had a different pronunciation for Firenze; it's
been too long.

These I'm back and forth on now between my initial pronunciation and
the 'proper' one:
PAT-tro-nus --pat to rhyme with cat, accent on first syllable, and
often the 'tro' sounds more like 'truh' when I say it
Lew-shus
baz-i-lisk --rather than bass-i-lisk (American thing?)

And, I was saying ah-kee-oh rather than ah-see-oh, and beh-zo-ar
instead of bee-zore.

--Kelley, rhymes with 'jelly' ;-)
