I would say that it is a muggle watch.  A non-digital watch (one with hands) does not have to use batteries, you can get ones where you have to turn a knob regularly to keep it going (wind it up).  These are usually the older styles (however I bought a brand new one that had to be wound up in the early 80's... so not that old).  Which fits in well knowing that most of the stuff Harry has is old hand me downs.
