Voldemort is not an idiot. He:
A) Went to Hogwarts, so would be
familiar with the non-apparation
magics in effect there, and
B) Knows that the Triwizard
Tournament is currently in
progress, and therefore
C) Any Death Eater who occupies
a prominent position either in the
tournament or at the school can
not simply up and vanish because of
the Mark's burn.
Becky replied:
Well, I can't quite buy THAT
particular argument because
it certainly does not take
long to simply walk off the
Hogwart's grounds and unless
you are actively engaged in
something at that time, making
at least an appearance wouldn't
be that difficult on such a
momentous occasion as Voldemart's
"rebirth"!
I reply:
IMO you're completely right, if we're talking about someone that
we've never heard of being a Death Eater. For instance, Mr. Smith.
But the people I wrote about, i.e. the prominently placed ones, just
couldn't leave. Bagman's a judge. Fudge is a judge. (Heh-heh, that
rhymes), McGonagall, Crouch!Moody, Flitwick and Hagrid are all
patrolling the outskirts of the maze, Snape, Sprout, and Amos Diggory
are there right after Harry portkeys back.
In other words, none of those people could get away in time to attend
the council, if they're Death Eaters.
Now, if you want to suggest that, perhaps, I dunno, Fleur's parents
are Death Eaters, because their daughter was taken out and they could
get away without attracting too much attention, then I'd buy it,
although I dunno what they'd do with Gabrielle. The same goes for any
others that we've never heard of or considered.
But none of the prominent ones. They're the only ones I'm concerned
with, for now. And IMO, those words from Voldemort could apply to any
of them, still, or even to people that we've never met before,
although to say that the 'coward' is actually Mr. Smith would IMO
completely lack Bang.
