For some reason you guys are making me think that instead of my
original theory that someone, perhaps Trelawney, told Voldemort that
a boy named Harry Potter will defeat him in the future, that perhaps
the Sorting Hat told him. But being that Voldemort was only 11 years
old, he didn't take this seriously. Until, of course, he became
older and perhaps bumped into a great wizard by the name of James
Potter, therefore, raising somes questions and putting two and two
together.
