Could Severus Snape be Voldemort's son? It is possible that
Voldemort had children, and book 2 did refer to Voldemort as the
last remaining "ancestor" of Salazar Slytherin. JKR said that was a
deliberate mistake. It would explain a great deal. We know that
Snape knew more hexes and curses as a first year than half the kids
in seventh year (sorry I don't have page numbers, but that is from
GOF). Perhaps his father (or mother) taught him? He is fascinated by
the Dark Arts, again because of his parents. He is eager to teach
the Defense against the Dark Arts classes because he feels that he
knows his father better than most people would. Snape would be the
right age to be Voldemort's son. Perhaps he is so bitter because he
has witnessed what his father has done, and is ashamed to be related
to someone like that. Even his name "Severus" seems to be a clue:
Was he somehow severed from the family when his opinions with his
father changed? Did he change his name? And concerning Voldemort's
assertion that the traitor DE would be killed, I don't think he is
referring to Snape because JKR would not give away such an important
piece of information in such a straightforward way. The problems I
see with this theory is that it does not explain why Snape hates the
Potters, or why he is apparently nervous about completing
Dumbledore's mystery errand at the end of GOF. Any thoughts about
this?
