Could Severus Snape be Voldemort's son? It is possible that 
Voldemort had children, and book 2 did refer to Voldemort as the 
last remaining "ancestor" of Salazar Slytherin. JKR said that was a 
deliberate mistake. It would explain a great deal. We know that 
Snape knew more hexes and curses as a first year than half the kids 
in seventh year (sorry I don't have page numbers, but that is from 
GOF). Perhaps his father (or mother) taught him? He is fascinated by 
the Dark Arts, again because of his parents. He is eager to teach 
the Defense against the Dark Arts classes because he feels that he 
knows his father better than most people would. Snape would be the 
right age to be Voldemort's son. Perhaps he is so bitter because he 
has witnessed what his father has done, and is ashamed to be related 
to someone like that. Even his name "Severus" seems to be a clue: 
Was he somehow severed from the family when his opinions with his 
father changed? Did he change his name? And concerning Voldemort's 
assertion that the traitor DE would be killed, I don't think he is 
referring to Snape because JKR would not give away such an important 
piece of information in such a straightforward way. The problems I 
see with this theory is that it does not explain why Snape hates the 
Potters, or why he is apparently nervous about completing 
Dumbledore's mystery errand at the end of GOF. Any thoughts about 
this?
