Well, this is as I know the story:
Shiva and Parvati had a son, Ganesha. Once Parvati asked Ganesha to stand guard in
front of her house when she took a bath. When Shiva came home, Ganesha forbid him
to enter. Shiva thought he could easily overcome his son, who proved to be as strong
and clever as both his parents. Their fight erupted into a wholescale war in which
several gods participated. In the end, Shiva beheaded Ganesha.
Parvati wasn't pleased and created an army of demons and send them against the gods.
To make peace with her, the gods gave Ganesha a new head, that of the first animal
they found: an elephant.
Frankly, I don't consider HP-Parvati's name to be significant and foreshadow anything
related to this. Partly because I don't see anyone who resembles Shiva in being both
destroyed and savior. And we already have too many very troubled father-son
relationships...
