Is Dumbledore Detached?

I don't believe that Dumbledore is evil in the sense that he means harm to everyone, but could he, due to his great age (Have we seen any of his comtempories?) have grown a little detached from the WW?  Perhaps he does not take the threat of Voldemort quite seriously or sees it as a chance to be 'entertained' by events.
