Lucius Mafoy's job?

Do we know from canon what job, if any, Lucius Malfoy has? For some 
reason, my initial thought was that that he worked for the Ministry of Magic, but 
he's not listed in the HP Lexicon as an MoM official, so I guess he doesn't. I 
think that  I assumed he worked there due to the amount of influence he has 
with the Ministry, or else maybe I read a fanfic that put him there and got it 
confused with canon.
