I am a new poster too... I think Snape's overall appearance is 
because he is still "undercover." He appears to have always been on 
standby in case Voldomort returns and he has to go back and spy 
again. All of Snape's behavior points to him still being considered 
acceptable to the Death Eaters and Voldomort. (hence a great spy!) I 
think Malfoy probably tells his father about Snape and what goes on 
at Hogwarts so they will be more inclined to believe he is one of 
them. Just a thought.
