I think the most telling indicator is in ch. 15, Aragog. Ron has
been finding reasons not to follow the spiders into the Forbidden
Forest. But in DADA, Harry gets angry at Lockhart for sneering at
Hagrid and scribbles Ron a note: Let's do it tonight.
