As an aside (but relating to Pippin's comment about questions being 
answered in OoP) - I remember someone posting to this list awhile ago 
a question as to whether the students take baths (since it's never 
mentioned in the first four books), and I found it interesting that 
JKR makes a point of telling us that Ron and Ginny went to take baths 
after their Quidditch practice.  So, no need to worry about smelly 
students ;-)

In GoF wasn't there a whole portion of a chapter devoted to Harry taking a
bath in the prefect's bathroom to find out the clue for the 2nd Triwizard
task?  I think some reference was made to the fact that the bathtub was
nicer then the one the other student's had. 

Or am I hallucinating? (entirely possible considering I've been stuck at my
computer since 6:30 am )
