Jennifer, you're too right.  The prefect's bathroom was described 
down to the smallest detail, including the mermaid portrait on the 
wall.

I guess that the fact that students take baths/showers is just 
backstory, meaning that of course they do, but it's not relevant to 
the story, so it's never really mentioned.  The bathrooms are only 
mentioned (like in CoS) when they're relevant, such as Moaning 
Myrtle's bathroom being used as a hiding spot to make the Polyjuice 
potion.  I assume that all of the students have to go the bathroom 
at some point or another, but it's never really mentioned either.
