Does anyone remember an interview where JKR said that after the
series somebody would become a teacher at Hogwarts, but not anyone
we'd suspect? I took that to mean Hermione wouldn't, and still think
so, as she's always been the most obviously teacherlike of the
students.

Now I'm wondering if it might not be Harry after seeing his success
filling in as DADA instructor in the secret lessons. I know he's
been thinking about being an Auror even before OOP. His interview
with McGonigall, and the knowledge that Ministry has been
deliberately trying to block his attempts at learning DADA in OOP
only increase his determination to be an Auror. If he goes in for
further training after Hogwarts, I think he would excell and
eventually become a great Auror.

However, what he has decided at 15 may not be what he decides at 17.
He also shows excellent aptitude as a teacher. When he's giving
instructions he seems very natural and more importantly his students
make good progress. Harry seems very fulfilled, and not just because
he's defying Umbridge (see p.397 U.S. edition).

It may be after defeating Voldemort, Harry realizes a deeper calling
to instruct. I also love thinking of a possible line from the last
page of book seven: "Professor Snape, have you met our new DADA
teacher, Professor Potter?"
