OOP: Wormtail's hand (was: Life Debt?)

I think there is a lot left regarding Wormtail (Neville and the
Dursleys too,but those are different theories).  And I think that the
life debt is definitely a significant thing that will come into play
later. But what I'm wondering now that Peter had a "prosthetic" hand
what happens when he transforms? Or can he turn into a rat with it?
and if so, does it stay silver when he transforms? (that was one of
the distinguishing characteristics of him as "Scabbers" that he was
missing a finger.)  Will we still be able to tell him apart from other
rats now that he has all his fingers back essentially? Of course, if
the Weasleys lived with him for all those years they will probably be
able to recognize him somewhat. Anyone have any thoughts?
