I completely disagree with this. It's like being a good cook. Anyone
can follow a recipe, but great cooks know what ingredients to use to
make great food without recipes. I imagine there are a lot of
potions that are pretty standard, just as there are many kitchen
recipes that are standard and found in The Joy of Cooking. However,
a truly talented cook comes up with their own recipes and is a
master at perfecting standard recipes. A talented potion master
would be able to come up with new potions and predict the results of
mixing certain ingredients based on their knowledge of each
ingredients properties. Another analogie would be a chemist.
This leads me to wonder how well the Weasley twins did in potions.
Based on what we have seen them do, I bet they were pretty good.
Perhaps they should take their potion NEWTS just to show how
talented they really are.
