Of course, the ultimate cross-up would be to have Ron be right this 
time. 

But anyway, in my re-read, I paid more attention to Ron's description 
of how he saved the Quaffle in the winning Quidditch match.

He "guessed" which way the Chaser was going to go. Now, any soccer or 
hockey goalie worth his or her salt does similar things, but I 
confess to wondering if the kid truly has some precog ability.

Now, to the other matter, D-Dore was unable or perhaps unwilling, to 
penetrate Snape's mind to the point where he could grasp the depth of 
Snape's hate for James. Or perhaps he never asked, "Severus, can you 
do this?" 

D-Dore can be fooled, especially if Snape was practiced enough.
