I think this as well...there was so much "why can't DD teach him?" 
going back and forth that it seemed clear that it was either or--as 
in there was no one else who could do it. 
It was really only marginally safer (all around) for Snape to teach 
Harry and thus expose HIS activities to V. We're led to believe Snape 
can hide what he's doing from Voldy, but Harry certainly can not.

I think DD trained Snape in Occlumancy (I think it should be "mancy" 
not "mency" but that's just me). By extension, and probably OT, I am 
wondering also if it was part of the "deal" DD cut with Severus for 
his silence after the "prank". Which brings up the question AGAIN--
was Snape Groomed by DD to infiltrate the DE's?
