Probably he didn't even mentioned because of his lifetime ban of 
playing quidditch. It's very likely that next year the ban will be 
eliminated so probably he could really start thinking about that. In 
book four when he was at world quidditch match, if I remember 
correctly, he imagined himself playing in that type of match, so 
probably the though has come to his head, but he has not had enough 
time to think of it.

On the other hand, it is true that he loves quiddich but maybe it's 
not his calling, like you said the example of Charlie Weasley that 
went to study dragon althoug he was very good at quidditch.
