Well, most people when they start a post, but haven't done their
research or read all the latest posts, say something like, 'I don't
know it the has been mentioned before but...".

Well, I know this definitely has been mention but there is no way I
can search it out of the thousands of posts that are rushing into this
group, so here it goes again.

Regarding primarily Harry's actions in OoP, but also related to Cho
and Hermione, this unknow person in the group said something to the
effect...

"Are boys really like that?"

So, I pose to the group an opportunity to discuss how well JKR has
capture the angst ridden lives of teen boys and girls.

Especially regarding Harry's interaction with Cho and Hermione's
comments about it as well as Ron reaction to circumstances, how well
do you think JKR captured the essence of boys and girls at this stage
of life?

As a boy, I am amazed at how well JKR understands how a boy's mind
works. Not just in relation to the Harry/Cho story line but in
relation to the actions of boys throughout the whole series of books.

If you've read books by S.E.Hinton like "The Outsiders" then you have
a good idea of the typical book written by a woman about boys; that
is, a woman attempting to write from a boys perspective. She get's it,
but then she doesn't quite get it. They are great teen stories, but
there are little things that give her away as not quite fully
comprehending a boy perspective.

JKR on the other hand, I would say she is spot on, DOUBLE SPOT ON, in
her characterization of boys in the book. Not that this will come as a
surprise to you, but Ladies, it's true, guy don't have a clue as to
the inner-workings of the female mind. We think just like Harry, we
feel just like Harry, we get sudden 'whooshing' sensations in our
stomach just like Harry, don't have a clue why you are all so
emotional, and we are all just as insecure as Harry.

So Ladies, how about Hermione and Cho? Did JKR capture the essense of
the teenage girl for you?

Just a thought.
