I for one think that Cho's reactions on the Valentine's date were
just perfect. Even though Cho has every reason to be totally
confident (she's a pretty, popular sports star), she's not. She's
playing little games with Harry, trying to make him jealous, fishing
for compliments, refocus the attention to her... and she's furious
that Harry has plans with Hermione, even though she has to know that
they're best friends.
*grown women* do these things, even though we generally know they're
stupid. 16-year old girls cannot help themselves.
This, to me, is the reason that these books are so great: it's funny
cause it's true. I absolutely loved that date/fiasco, and the other
Harry/Cho scenes in the book. :)
