That was bothering me for some time also.  The whole time Dudley was 
woozy, I was expecting Harry to say something like "oh
you will live 
just eat some chocolate."

Then I started thinking about how the Dursleys have only provided 
Harry with the bare necessities to sustain life.  Yes, Harry saved 
Dudley from the dementors, I would expect nothing less,
he is not a 
murderer
even though some are trying to make him out to be when he 
use that harmless curse on Bellatrix.  

Anyway, Harry knew that the aftermath of the dementors was not going 
to kill Dudley so perhaps he felt like Dudley needed to experience a 
taste of something that is not so comforting for once in his life.

Just a thought.
