   I thought she was reminding him of his probationary status not 
imposing it, but on rereading I see her words could bear the other 
interpretation.

   Obviously we are in complete agreement on this point.

   All I can say is if somebody had intruded on *my* most traumatic 
and humiliating memory I wouldn't be very reasonable myself. Snape 
*is* wrong to stop the lessons but I sympathize with his emotional 
state.

   Me! Seriously I don't feel any temptation at all to meddle in 
other people's memories. Especially somebody as likely to have awful 
memories as Snape!
