I dont think he needs to be selfless to be in the order. As long as
he has something to benefit the order, he can be a key member
(inside information, contacts, etc.). And I think if he had
something to benefit from the order (like, betting on the winner,
something people like draco do), he could decide that. So what if
Malfoy's family hates dumbledore. If Lucius is in jail, or killed,
Draco might pick a different path in life. He doesnt remember what
it is like to live under Voldemort, or during a war. He might not
like having less than all his conforts, and wish the war to end.

First off, Sirius learnt those same lessons, and he was a brat in
his fifth year, and he ended up in the order. Similiarly, Snape
calls her a mudblood, but he still made it to the Order, albeit
after being a death Eater.

We have not seen Hermione been actively interested in anyone. Maybe
Krum, but that seemed mostly one sided in my opinion, so it doesnt
mean anything she doesnt care for him. And neither was Lily
interested in James at that age. Lily only seems to be doing her job
as a prefect, plus, draco hasn't done anything nearly comparable to
what James was doing, besides call people names and fail at hexes,
or tattle. He might be called a bully, but he is pretty innefectual
at it.

And for all we know, Draco scribbles HG on his tests papers. We
have no evidence for or against it. Im not saying this will or
should happen, but for all we know, it could.

conclusive about draco.)
