ME:  Just a thought here but, why would Lupin's parents know DD would
let in werewolfs?  I think they just asked:  Will you let him in?  And
DD came up with a way to let Lupin in.  This was not common knowledge.
 Remember:  Snape was sneeking around trying to find out were Lupin
was going at nite.  The other parents didn't know.  They would have
been outraged... no one knew WHY the whomping willow was planted
except DD.

big snip:  So does it help?  DD was headmaster, but Lupin's parents
went to DD and DD being a good guy and wanting to give a good kid a
change ... let him in.. and that being the case... McGonagall was
Trnsfiguration teacher and DD was headmaster... cheers! Tj
