OoP is the "coming out" of Neville. Plus the introduction of the
wonderful Luna Lovegood. I hope we see lots more of her.

JKR says one reason that OoP was so long was that she had so much
to "set up" for the following two books. It's true that we don't see
a lot of Ron in this book as a contribition to the Scooby gang (I
love that phrase) but we do see a bit more of Ron standing on his
own two feet. He goes off on his own to practice for Quidditch. He
becomes (and eventually succeeds) goal keeper and contributes to a
win without Harry's help.

Maybe, JKR, since she is "setting us up" for the final two books, is
getting us ready for a new, independent Ron with a mission of his
own.

Of course, it could just be that up intil this book, there has been
one "quest" that occupies the whole book...so all three of our gang
had an opportunity to contribute. This book centers primarily on
Harry's angst. It would have been nice to have seen a little more of
the coming of age of Ron and Hermione.

I hope JKR is preparing us more from Ron. I really like him and
would hate to see him relegated to comic relief.
