The Sergeant Majorette says:

Agree completely; this is why I was so disappointed at the
character's lack of growth in OoP. As it's not likely that he's ever
going to turn 'good', the best hope for this character is that he
come to grips with the fact that his parents just raised him wrong
and that he will have to separate from them psychologically in a very
unnatural and painful way.

Draco/Hermione? Nah. He might be interested in her as in Snape/Lily:
people outside New York might not know this, but the main 'racist
cop' defendant in the Abner Louima police brutality case was engaged
to a black woman; point being that expressed predjudice goes out the
window when the hormones kick in. But Hermione doesn't even seem to
be bothered by Draco's racist taunts except insofar as it bothers
Harry and Ron. She doesn't care enough about him to dislike him. When
she goes off on him in PoA, she's totally stressed by her courseload
and who knows? maybe she was PMS-ing. Otherwise, it's always "Go
away, Malfoy..." and a roll of the eyes. On the contrary, I think
Lily likes James from the beginning which is why she bothers to
disapprove of his behavior.
