I like Merlin. Poor devil was bamboozled by females left, right and
centre. What's new.

Outflanked by Morgan Le Fay ( Arthurs fairy sister ), imprisoned in a
rock by Nimue and entangled by thorn bushes and enchanted into
permanent slumber by Vivien, The Lady of the Lake.

The only difficulty is deciding which group of legends to use as the
relevant text; there are at least five, ( Nennius, Geoffrey of
Monmouth, Robert Wace, Robert de Borron, and the Orlando series; all
from the 9th Cent. onwards), plus later modifications.

Even the more recent historically solid(?) theories that date Arthur
to the 5th/6th Cent. still put Merlin (probably known as Ambrosius) as
of Welsh origin, even though all the great Arthurian battles except
Badon, which no-one can definitely identify, take place on the Scottish
border!

Now for a weak, weak WEAK link.

Ambrosia is the food of the Gods, made from honey. Dumbledore is
dialect for a bumblebee.

If you can find a weaker link than that, you deserve a medal
