comparing how Draco treats Hermione to how Snape treated Lily,
considering that there isn't one shred of canon to support Snape-Lily.

> I'm no D/H shipper, though I can see the pre-OOP arguments and I'll
be interested to see if any post-OOP arguments are made. However, I
really think it's offensive to dismiss someone's opinions (with
regard to SHIPs or anything else) as mere "wishful thinking." This
is a literary discussion group, and opinions expressed herein are by
their very nature subjective. Scott was entitled to expresss his
original opinion, however much I might disagree with it. Amura used
canon to refute Scott's opinion.

No she didn't. She said "we'll see if Snape-Lily is confirmed in
canon" which is WISHING FOR FURTHER CONFIRMATION IN CANON.
Furthermore, that wish for confirmation of Lily was used as a reason
Draco-Hermione could be possible.

Wishing for further confirmation is otherwise known as wishful
thinking.

After all, he snickered at Draco's taunts. C'mon, let's start a
Crabbe-Hermione ship.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

> This level of sarcasm is again uncalled-for, IMHO. Again, this is
a literary discussion list, and opinions will vary widely. Amura's
point is completely valid.

And so is mine. Crabbe-Hermione is just as valid as Draco-Hermione.
For that matter, Pansy-Hermione is valid, because Pansy could be
covering up her desires with taunts.

When that is your "evidence," that taunts are covers for lusts, then
all kinds of ship possibilities occur. And pointing out the extremes
of those possibilities is not sarcasm, but a valid debating technique
used to weaken the central possibility.

So, Crabbe-Hermione, Goyle-Hermione, Pansy-Harry, Pansy-Neville,
Pansy-Hermione, Pansy-Cho, Draco-Ron, Lavender-Hagrid, etc... are all
valid under this evidence. Why is Draco-Hermione any more valid? I
don't see it in canon.

Could it be fanfic poisoning? Perish the thought.

>But, it's just not good form to dismiss other people's canon-based
>arguments with a sarcastic reference to "wishful thinking." Amura
is right: what is "wishful thinking" in your opinion will be
completely plausible to someone else.

I don't respond to canon-based arguments in that fashion.

Darrin
-- I am not advocating any of the relationships I mentioned, mainly
because Pansy makes me ill.
