Yes - I'm not thrilled with Harry for violating Snape's privacy. Snape left
in an awful hurry - I really don't think he left a set-up for Harry - I
think that on some level he, if he'd thought about it at all, would have
expected Harry to have the manners not to snoop. Harry did not - he may
think his reasons are excellent, but there we have it. There are few true
two-dimensional "evil villains" in this world because so many believe they
are doing something for the best possible reason.

Kai, thank you - this is exactly the point. Fear of Voldemort knowing or
not, it was Dumbledore's responsibility to check in with Harry and Snape
from time to time - summoning them to his office with McGonagall present,
perhaps, and maintaining his impassive manner, should have helped conceal
any special attachment - he's just checking up on the lessons.
I still have my suspicions of Dumbledore, although they've changed somewhat.
