Remember Dobby doing himself bodily harm (i.e., ironing his hands) 
whenever he betrayed the Malfoys by telling Harry things he wasn't 
supposed to?  I read the heavily bandaged hands as Kreacher 
punishing himself for betraying Sirius. Even though he hated Sirius, 
like Dobby hated Lucius, he still had to punish himself for the 
betrayal.
